I’m very proud as editor and founder to launch our new branding for the publication, a brave new step in The Political Inquiry’s development.
In recent months the growth of the substack triggered us to search for a new look, to both define the bold and independent thoughts we so enjoy writing about, while putting TPI on a surer path for bigger things.
On behalf of TPI, we want to thank the designers at Liquid Studio, who have created a bold and brilliant set of logos and new themes for TPI. They were a pleasure to work with and we cannot recommend them enough – especially for thought provoking challengers and start-ups.
Our Mission
Our mission remains the same: bringing new voices in politics to the attention of those interested in politics, whether novice politicos or veterans in the industry.
We remain accessible – free at the point of use, while using a higher level of explanation for complexities that are taken for granted in legacy media or academia, which has the corrosive effect of disillusioning people from politics.
We are free of editorial or financial stance, free of the need to describe the ‘what’ for clicks or column inches, instead we are able to investigate the ‘why’ behind change – and in doing so creating a much more holistic explanation. A new line of inquiry, our line of inquiry.
We will always remain fiercely independent, publishing views and ideologies from across the spectrum, not bound by a single editorial line. Diversity in views and opinion is paramount to quality of thought and inquiry, but this does not translate into a pure ratio of ‘left-right’ balance.
Difference in opinion must add quality and have utility for the substack – not simply baiting petty discourse.
New Contributor System
As we grow, we inevitably will be increasing our list of writers. Over the next few months, we will have a mix of those political ‘insiders’, giving the substack better primary knowledge to inform our coverage, while also those ‘outsiders’ which bring fresh ideas and perspectives – the new voices.
We will solidify a set of permanent contributors by Autumn, with the rest from then on guest pieces. If you are interested, whether in or out of politics, please email tom.egerton.003@gmail.com for pitches and ideas (or just a chat).
We’re also around Westminster intermittently, so come say hi!
Series Watch
Creating new deep-dive, long form series is our next aim – building on our foundational series of Power and Elections.
Our next new series to publish will be called ‘Wargaming 2024’ which will investigate the scenarios of what the next government will look like, and how each party and leader will attempt to play their hand after the election.
We also aim to have our first few podcasts published over the next month, and we will be focusing on the general political state of play and previewing the local elections.
Lastly, thank you!
To end, can I just say thank you for the support many of you reading have given TPI. Whether being quoted or shared by brilliant people / political outlets or by simply liking, sharing, subscribing or telling a friend about TPI – it all means so much to us.
We hope you continue to enjoy our line of inquiry, as The Political Inquiry grows and grows.
Thank you.
